Lyrics of Paradise
by Uriah Heep

I feel you trying
Though in my heart
I know you're lying
And though your love
For me is dying
I see you crying

Its the pain on your secret heart
Bringing you to tears
Filling you with fears
For your mind and for your soul

I touch you softly now
Borne on by hope
Until the end somehow
I am a man and I must keep my vow
I must go on

But the wall of your secret heart
Keeps my distance clear
Helps my footsteps fall
Back in line inside my mind

What's the use you turned me loose
And left me here to cry

Where's the love we talked about
Where's my sunny sky
Secret hearts and sorry tales
Will never help love grow
Spread your wings my daunted soul
The time has come to go
I will not be hurried down
Or blackened by your lies
I must go and find my dream
And live in paradise

What's the use you turned me loose
And left me here to cry
Where's the love we talked about
Where's my sunny sky
Secret hearts and sorry tales
Will never help love grow
Spread your wings my daunted soul
The time has come to go
I will not be hurried down
Or blackened by your lies
I must go and find my dream
And live in paradise
What's the use you turned me loose
And left me here to cry
Where's the love we talked about

Uriah Heep is an English rock group formed in London in 1969. Notable former members of the band included singer David Byron, keyboardist and singer Uriah Heep are an English rock band formed in London in 1969. The band has undergone numerous line-up changes over the course of its 51-year career, with guitarist Mick Box which is the only one remaining original. member. Notable former members of the band included vocalist David Byron, keyboardist and singer Ken Hensley, drummer Lee Kerslake, and bassist Gary Thain. Uriah Heep have released twenty-four studio albums, twenty live albums and forty-one compilations. Twelve of the band's studio albums have entered the UK album charts, with Demons & Wizards the most successful. The band's name was taken from a well-known character from Charles Dicken's novel David Copperfield. Their 1970 debut album, ... Very 'Eavy ... Very' Umble, introduced Hensley's heavy organ and Box's guitar-driven sound, with Byron's theatrical and dynamic voice hovering above the thunderous sound backgrounds, although acoustic and jazz elements were also present in the mix. The album was generally panned by the mainstream critical press upon its release, although it has since been recognized as one of the earliest classics of the heavy metal genre. The band's second album, Salisbury, was more directly into the progressive rock genre, with its 16-minute title track with a 24-piece orchestra. One of the album's tracks, 'Lady in Black', described as '... a stylishly arranged melody that morphs from a folk-style acoustic melody into a throbbing rocker full of spooky harmonies and creaking guitar riffs', became a hit in Germany and many parts of Europe. Produced by Gerry Bron, the second album was significant for Ken Hensley's immediate rise to the position of lead author. The third album, Look at Yourself, released in October 1971, marked the solidification of disparate ideas that had been a prominent Salisbury feature and featured unified sound and direction. Highlights included the title track, 'Tears In My Eyes' and 'July Morning', an epic that many Heep fans consider equal to Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' and Deep's 'Child in Time'. Purple. The band's magnum opera, Demon's & Wizards, was released in 1972. Although Roger Dean's title and cover artwork both suggested the band were romantically transforming medieval myth into their songs, and certainly songs like 'Rainbow Demon 'and' The Spell 'did have thematic links with the fantasy world, a more direct and harsh approach was also evident. Two singles were released from the album: 'The Wizard' and 'Easy Livin'. Six months later, in November 1972, Uriah Heep's fifth studio album, The Magician's Birthday, was released with 'Sweet Lorraine' released as an American single. The songs were darker and more gothic with the title track (a multi-part fantasy epic with Hensley-Byron's vocal duel and Box's vast guitar solo in between) being one of the album's highlights. After releasing five more albums (Sweet Freedom, Wonderworld, Return to Fantasy and High and Mighty), the band released Firefly in 1977 with new lead singer John Lawton. The band's popularity waned in the 1980s and 1990s, but the band maintains a significant following and performs at venues as big as an arena in the Balkans, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Russia and Scandinavia. They have sold over 45 million albums worldwide with over 4 million US sales.
